Becoming UU Class

So, you've been visiting and have decided you'd like to learn more and maybe become a member of our Fellowship.  It's a simple process, typically beginning with attending our Becoming UU class, at which various members of UU Waco will share their "faith journeys" and encourage you to share yours.  You will learn more about what Unitarian Universalism is all about, and how UU Waco came to be. The class encourages you to know us better and find ways you can be involved in the Fellowship. It's an informal, information-packed session, but never fear:  Snacks are served.

Intent to Join

If you decide you'd like to join, you'll sign an "Intent to Join" document, which is in the packet of materials given out during the class. The document states your intention to do the following:

• Subscribe to the Bond of Union as stated in the By-laws of this Fellowship:

The purpose of this Fellowship is to bring religious people into closer acquaintance and cooperation for the study and practice of religion, and for the diffusion of the knowledge of Unitarianism Universalism and the furthering of their principles. 

• Embrace the spirit of the Affirmation which we say at Sunday services:

Love is the doctrine of this Fellowship, the quest for truth is its sacrament and service is its prayer. To dwell together in peace, to seek knowledge in freedom, to serve others in community to the end that all souls shall grow into harmony with creation. Thus, do we covenant with each other. 

• Join with and support the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Waco by making an annual financial pledge and volunteering to use your time, talents and experience for the good of the Fellowship according to your means and abilities. 

• Live UUFW's Core Values and Covenant of Right Relations. 

• Find ways to meet people and become involved in the life of the congregation. 

Sign the Book

You’ve completed our Becoming UU class and signed the Intent to Join document, so you’ve made it to the third step of becoming a member. Congratulations! The third step is the most fun. It’s time to celebrate, one of the things that we value in life. You will sign our official book of membership and be formally introduced to the UU Waco congregation. Welcome to our family!
