Each Sunday, the offertory plate collection is shared between UUFW and a designated non-profit organization. Fifty per cent (50%) of all non-pledged donations are passed on to the STP partner at the end of the month by the Treasurer. Donors may also include money specifically for an STP partner in a specially marked envelope; these donations will be passed on 100%.
Share the Plate Partners are nominated annually by UUFW Members and Friends. Organizations currently funded by Share the Plate must be renominated to be considered for 2025-2026. Voting on the nominated partners takes place in December so that the selected slate can be assembled for the new fiscal year beginning in January.
Each non-profit organization must meet the following criteria:
The organization serves the local Waco/McLennan County area.
The mission of the organization focuses on food justice, housing justice, racial justice, or environmental justice.
The organization must be a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.
This past year, recipients included Caritas of Waco, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, The Cove, CASA of McLennan County, ACLU Texas, Talitha Koum, and the Texas Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry (TXUUJM).
We invite you to become a Share the Plate champion for a local non-profit organization that you support. If your group is added to our program, you will be raising its profile and financial resources. Last year, the program collected over $2,500 that was distributed to the selected organizations.
