Professional note: My own philosophical interests are in social and political issues, applied ethics, existentialism, and history of modern philosophy. I have co-edited sixteen books on contemporary moral issues published by Prometheus Press, several in second and third editions. Most of these have been edited with my colleague Stuart Rosenbaum, but three have been edited with my daughter, Kathy, an attorney (see below). My most recent published essay focuses on the issue of self-identity in the writings of the existential thinker Jean-Paul Sartre.

Personal note: Married; wife Alice, Baylor graduate; taught English at University High School for 20 years; now spends much time quilting and visiting grandchildren.

Three children: Kathy (an attorney, teaches at Chapman University School of Law in Orange County CA, married with two children—Lia and Locke, her husband is an attorney in private practice); Rob (a physician practicing internal medicine in St. Louis); Susan (a psychologist with a private practice who also teaches as an adjunct at Western Michigan University where her husband, also a psychologist, is on the faculty, two children—Malcolm and Dawson).
