Apartment Shower a Success

What was the apartment shower for Compassion Ministries held at UUFW Saturday night, August 1?
Becky Warren, our Social Action Team Chair, got a template for a Jeopardy! game online and filled it in with Waco and UUWaco and apartment questions. The five categories were: House keeping, Wacky Waco, Blue Phrogs in Waco, Social Action and Fact or Fiction about UU and UUWaco. There were some stumpers in the House Keeping category - obviously UUs aren't great house keepers.
Everyone brought snacks and treats to munch on throughout the evening and the gifts were wonderful. The Social Action team won't have to go shopping to restock our apartment for a while. Thanks, everyone.
More opportunities to give
John Moody and Randy Culp, who are getting married at the end of August, have very generously asked that people give to the Compassion Ministries apartment instead of buying them wedding gifts. You may bring those to their shower August 21, or drop them off at the Fellowship anytime. Just be sure to write Randy and John's name on them, so they can thank you.
One little glitch was the gift registry at Wal-Mart; it was inaccurate, not up to date and sometimes just cranky about letting people in. Just keep trying as we'll be getting an updated list to the registry soon.
