UUWaco provides numerous ways for members, friends, and visitors to get involved with our beloved community. Here are just a few to pique your interest.
Every Wednesday from 5.30-6.30 pm, we practice guided meditation followed by silent sitting in a serene space. All are welcome, from beginners to the most experienced. Kick off your shoes and stay a while! Email email@example.com for more information.
From UUA.org: One of the six primary sources of inspiration and wisdom in Unitarian Universalism is: “Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit.”
The HUUmanist Conversations meets on the third Thursday of each month at a member’s home. We currently study Bill Moyers on Faith and Reason. Join us for a delicious dinner and intriguing conversations. Email ALD2 for more information.
Bibliophiles unite! The second Monday of each month, UUs get together for Reading Circle. Bring your latest and greatest reads to share with book-loving friends. Unlike many book clubs, we do not read the same book. We come together to share what we’ve been reading for the past month. This allows everyone to share at least one great book, and everyone else gets to add interesting titles to their reading list. We meet at a member’s house and bring snacks to share. The UUWaco Reading Circle provides a great environment for friends to share ideas.
UU Women’s Group
UU women meet on the fourth Thursday of each month. For over 10 years, we have come together for support, friendship, conversation, and action. This inclusive group welcomes all women 21 years of age and older including LGBTQIA+ welcoming & affirming, trans*-inclusive. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Vegetarians and vegans gather on the third Saturday of each month. Bring your favorite vegetarian or vegan dish to share with fellow herbivorous foodies. It’s a great way to get yummy recipes! Email email@example.com for more information.
UUs gather for Circle Suppers each quarter, which provide a great chance to share a meal and get to know new friends. For information or to sign up, email ALD3.
We gather for Song Circle whenever the spirit moves us. Join us for some pickin’, some singin’, and some good old-fashioned musical jams. No experience necessary, just bring a friend and join in the fun. Keep an eye on our calendar for our next gathering! If you have questions in the meantime, email Song Circle!
UUWaco retreats to Fort Park each year for its spiritual, familial, musical, and everything else renewal! We come together to help each other relax and enjoy life by leaving behind the outside world. We participate in numerous activities, both indoors and outdoors. We play celebratory music, cook fantastic food, play entertaining games, stroll through the forest, canoe on the lake, and so much more!
